Bookmobile Elementary School Visit
The bookmobile will be making monthly visits to the Fall River Public School System throughout the 2025-2026 school year! During these visits, students with SAILS library cards are invited to board the Bookmobile and choose 1-2 books to check out for two weeks. At the end of the two weeks, the Bookmobile will come back to their school so they can return their books and pick out new ones. Please ensure that your child brings their library card and returns to school on the day of their scheduled visit to ensure they can participate in the program!There are two ways that you can get your child a library card in preparation for these visits. Do you like to knit or crochet? Come join a group of fellow crafters - just bring your yarn, needles, and yourself. It's a great way to make friends, share patterns and tips, and make progress on your projects. Beginners are welcome and no registration is required.
Watercolor Workshop
Artist and instructor Lana Quann of The Wandering Brush will guide attendees through painting their own watercolor painting. Beginners are welcome! Space is limited, so please register by contacting the circulation desk at 508-324-2700 ext. 2. YA Comics Club
CALLING ALL teenage COMICS ENTHUSIASTS!!!! Do you like comics? Graphics novels? Manga? Webcomics? Some other combination of pictures and words?? Then the Young Adult Comics Club is the place for you!The second Thursday of each month we meet to discuss all things comics - making, thinking, reading, sharing, etc. Share your favorite manga with peers! Show off the comic you’ve been making to other comic artists! Finally start that cool comic idea you’ve been meaning to draw! Learn what comics are all about!!!Each month we will have an optional comic prompt to make and share for the following meeting. Make us some words and pictures!!For teens ages 13 - 18.

Open Draw for Teens
Open Draw for Teens provides a space in the library every other Saturday for teens to draw and socialize with other creative peers! Every session we will have ample time to free draw, and occasionally will host workshops on paper crafts like making zines, flipbooks, pop-up comics, as well as assorted drawing exercises.Bring your sketchbooks, drawing pads, loose paper, old magazines, your favorite pens and pencils… whatever it is you use to draw! Some basic materials will also be available to use each session.For teens ages 13 - 18.

Every month, the Bookmobile will be making biweekly visits to River Falls Senior Living! Join Children's Room staff for a fun morning of stories! Each storytime includes 30 minutes of stories from popular children's books followed by a short literacy-based movie and an easy-to-make craft. Introduce your preschooler to the exciting world of children's literature! Recommended for ages 3 to 5.

Community Resource Day
Every two weeks, join the library and several community partners for our community resource day! Organizations will be on hand to provide information and assistance for various community needs such as healthcare, homelessness, immigration, mental health issues, food insecurity, and more. This event is open to all members of the public and no registration is required.

Instead, everyone can share their own recommendations of a book they're enjoyed recently as we meet for general book chat and afternoon tea. Science fiction and fantasy lovers are invited to join us for our monthly book discussion group! On the third Thursday of each month, we will meet at 6 pm to talk about a different sci-fi or fantasy book, ranging from new titles to classics. Magic: The Gathering Commander Club
Teens and adults ages 13 and up are invited to join us for a bi-weekly meetup to play Magic: The Gathering Casual Commander! Participants are invited to bring their own bracket 2-3 decks, borrow one of ours, or build their own with a selection of the hundreds of cards we have at the library. Don’t know how to play? The Writing Life
This 90-minute workshop will help writers tap into their creativity, find their voice, craft a story, and express themselves in a world with more media than it’s ever had before. For more than 20 years, Jeff has made a living as a full-time writer. He’s written for newspapers, magazines, the web, podcasts, radio, television, documentary film, and he’s authored over a dozen books. The workshop focuses on nonfiction and memoir, but there is plenty for fiction writers to chew on. Attendees are encouraged to email in questions before the program.

Photography Group
The Fall River Public Library invites all photography enthusiasts to join our new Photography Group.On the last Wednesday of each month, participants will share their work, provide feedback, and join in open discussion about the wonderful art of photography! A monthly, optional theme will be picked at random to help inspire and prompt our members to make new and exciting work to share each session. Participants are asked to bring in a thumbdrive of their work, with a selection of 5-10 photos, if they intend to share with the group that month.While we gladly accept photographers at all stages of their journeys, the Photography Group does not offer photography lessons. We do encourage our participants to ask questions about photography, and to share tips and tricks they’ve learned with each other.This program is intended for photographers ages 13 and up.

Celebrate Free Comic Book Day at the Fall river public library by picking up 2 FREE comic books of your choice! This program is designed to allow caregivers an opportunity to participate in social and art-based activities that promote family literacy. Activities include a story, circle time songs, and finger plays. Recommended for children ages 5 and under. To register your child, please contact Miss Shannon at sdunbar@fallriverschools.org. The Bookmobile will be making monthly visits to the Fall River Public School System throughout the 2025-2026 school year! During these visits, students with SAILS library cards are invited to board the Bookmobile and choose 1-2 books to check out for two weeks. At the end of the two weeks, the Bookmobile will come back to their school so they can return their books and pick out new ones. Please ensure that your child brings their library card and returns to school on the day of their scheduled visit to ensure they can participate in the program!There are two ways that you can get your child a library card in preparation for these visits. You can fill out the online application via your ParentSquare account. Once you submit the form, your child’s school will send it to the Bookmobile librarian who will then drop their card off at their school. Or, you can visit the Fall River Public Library and fill out an application in person in the Children’s Department. English Conversation Group
Learning to speak English can be a challenge. Come practice with us in the Nagle Room. Join our English Conversation Club and practice your speaking and listening skills. Beginners are welcome to join!

Do you like to knit or crochet? Come join a group of fellow crafters - just bring your yarn, needles, and yourself. It's a great way to make friends, share patterns and tips, and make progress on your projects. Beginners are welcome and no registration is required.
Watercolor Workshop
Artist and instructor Lana Quann of The Wandering Brush will guide attendees through painting their own watercolor painting. Beginners are welcome! Space is limited, so please register by contacting the circulation desk at 508-324-2700 ext. 2. The Banned Book Club
Join The Banned Book Club - a place where we devour literature that has been historically challenged throughout American history. Every 4th Thursday of the month we will discuss what lies beneath these pages and engage in conversation about the importance of the freedom of reading, which is essential to our democracy.During our first meeting we will be discussing 1984 by George Orwell. Pick up a copy at the circulation desk!

Join the bookmobile in celebrating healthy living at this summer’s Cardinal Medeiros Towers Farmer’s Market! All are invited to board the bookmobile to sign up for a library card and check out some books!
Chess Club
Play a game of chess at the library! Chess players at all levels are invited to stop by on Saturday afternoons. Bring your own chess board and pieces, or we have some available at the desk.
Open Draw for Teens
Open Draw for Teens provides a space in the library every other Saturday for teens to draw and socialize with other creative peers! Every session we will have ample time to free draw, and occasionally will host workshops on paper crafts like making zines, flipbooks, pop-up comics, as well as assorted drawing exercises.Bring your sketchbooks, drawing pads, loose paper, old magazines, your favorite pens and pencils… whatever it is you use to draw! Some basic materials will also be available to use each session.For teens ages 13 - 18.
Bookmobile at River Falls Senior Living
Every month, the Bookmobile will be making biweekly visits to River Falls Senior Living! Residents will be given the chance to sign up for a library card and browse the Bookmobile’s collections of adult fiction, nonfiction, large print, and reference materials. Residents will also have the chance to learn how to use the library’s online resources, such as Libby and Hoopla! All materials will be brought into the building from the Bookmobile to increase accessibility.
Preschool Storytime
Join Children's Room staff for a fun morning of stories! Each storytime includes 30 minutes of stories from popular children's books followed by a short literacy-based movie and an easy-to-make craft. Introduce your preschooler to the exciting world of children's literature! Recommended for ages 3 to 5.
Community Resource Day
Every two weeks, join the library and several community partners for our community resource day! Organizations will be on hand to provide information and assistance for various community needs such as healthcare, homelessness, immigration, mental health issues, food insecurity, and more. This event is open to all members of the public and no registration is required.

Professor Harp Blues Concert
Come see singer and harmonica player Professor Harp and his band perform a blues set. Professor Harp is a Fall River community member and was inducted into the New England Music Hall of Fame in 2025. You won't want to miss out on this free, all ages musical performance.
YA Comics Club
CALLING ALL teenage COMICS ENTHUSIASTS!!!! Do you like comics? Graphics novels? Manga? Webcomics? Some other combination of pictures and words?? Then the Young Adult Comics Club is the place for you!The second Thursday of each month we meet to discuss all things comics - making, thinking, reading, sharing, etc. Share your favorite manga with peers! Show off the comic you’ve been making to other comic artists! Finally start that cool comic idea you’ve been meaning to draw! Bookmobile at Community Block Party
Join us on the Bookmobile for a day of fun at the Greater Fall River Re-CREATION’s annual Community Block Party! This free program is open to all and will include games, food, music, and resource tables. The Bookmobile will be open to members of the community who wish to sign up for a library card and get some books! Takes place at 45 Rock Street.

All materials will be brought into the building from the Bookmobile to increase accessibility.
