Pamela Means presents: Black, Brown and Beige, an intergenerational community concert named after a Duke Ellington composition. This family-friendly public event celebrates the artistry and cultural contributions of Black, Brown and Beige people. Demonstrating that throughout history, Black, Brown and Beige artists have used their voices, their lives, their art, to call out injustice, call in community, inspire compassion, assuage pain, instill joy, spread love, and prove possibilities of a brighter, better, and loving world. Pamela will also share her trajectory as an artist, making music for peace and unity, and a commitment to authentic self-expression. Performing a mix of original and cover songs, Pamela Means presents: Black, Brown and Beige will explore the origin stories and lineages of many recognizable "sing-along" songs sung by Harriet Tubman, Leadbelly, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Tracy Chapman, Prince, etc.! Then the Young Adult Comics Club is the place for you!The second Thursday of each month we meet to discuss all things comics - making, thinking, reading, sharing, etc. Share your favorite manga with peers! Clifford the Big Red Dog wants you to be his Valentine's Day guest for a special storytime at the library! Clifford's First Valentine by Norman Bridwell and Little Mouse's Big Valentine by Thacher Hurd will be the featured storybooks shared followed by a Clifford Valentine card craft and a raffle for prizes. For ages 3 and up.

Open Draw for Teens provides a space in the library every other Saturday for teens to draw and socialize with other creative peers! Every session we will have ample time to free draw, and occasionally will host workshops on paper crafts like making zines, flipbooks, pop-up comics, as well as assorted drawing exercises.Bring your sketchbooks, drawing pads, loose paper, old magazines, your favorite pens and pencils… whatever it is you use to draw! Some basic materials will also be available to use each session.For teens ages 13 - 18.

Go on a search for 3 missing polar animals (polar bear, penguin and seal) who are missing in the library! Find all 3 and glue them on the official iceberg entry sheet and become eligible to win a gift basket filled with books and other surprises! Every child who enters and finds all three will receive a polar animal finger puppet! The hunt begins in the children's room.

Make your own Mardi Gras mask and join in the library's celebration! Decorate your mask with colored feathers, glimmering jewels and the traditional colors of Mardi Gras- purple, yellow and green! Wear your mask to meet King Rex who will shower you with beads from the library's Elm Street balcony! For ages 4 and up.

The Children’s Room invites our middle grade readers (ages 8-12) to join our monthly book club! On the third Tuesday of every month, we will meet to discuss the assigned title which will be chosen from a selection of popular fiction and nonfiction. Copies of the assigned title will be provided for members to keep! Each month’s title and any related materials will be announced and distributed at the end of the previous session.

Meet the Snowball Follies ambassador of winter, Peppermint the Polar Bear! Peppermint will be here to pose for pictures and share a special surprise with all his friends! A monthly, optional theme will be picked at random to help inspire and prompt our members to make new and exciting work to share each session. People around the world have tried unsuccessfully for years to catch a leprechaun! This month we challenge you to build a successful leprechaun trap using LEGOs! The results from this evening's event will be put on display in the Children's Room. Come back and visit the traps on March 17- St.Patrick's Day, to see which one successfully caught a leprechaun! The creator of the winning trap will win a prize! May the luck of the Irish be with you!

Then the Young Adult Comics Club is the place for you!The second Thursday of each month we meet to discuss all things comics - making, thinking, reading, sharing, etc. Share your favorite manga with peers! Show off the comic you’ve been making to other comic artists! Finally start that cool comic idea you’ve been meaning to draw! Meet the Phelan Monsters, a cast of colorful puppet characters and their creator Mrs. Kim for this fun-filled storytelling event! Through storytelling and play, children are introduced to meaningful words and concepts such as positivity, perseverance, confidence and kindness all in an engaging, accessible way. All participants will leave with a small take-home item. Presented by Virginia Rose Productions. For ages 4 and up.

Open Draw for Teens provides a space in the library every other Saturday for teens to draw and socialize with other creative peers! Every session we will have ample time to free draw, and occasionally will host workshops on paper crafts like making zines, flipbooks, pop-up comics, as well as assorted drawing exercises.Bring your sketchbooks, drawing pads, loose paper, old magazines, your favorite pens and pencils… whatever it is you use to draw! Some basic materials will also be available to use each session.For teens ages 13 - 18.

Join Children's Room staff for a fun morning of stories! Each storytime includes 30 minutes of stories from popular children's books followed by a short literacy-based movie and an easy-to-make craft. Introduce your preschooler to the exciting world of children's literature! Recommended for ages 3 to 5.

It's time once again to search the hallowed halls of the Fall River Public Library for that ever elusive leprechaun! Children will collect gold coins, jewels and other surprises as they track down the tricky fellow! Whoever finds the crafty leprechaun will win a special prize! The program will begin in the library's Meeting Room with a storytime featuring the tale, How To Catch A Leprechaun by Adam Wallace. For ages 12 and under.

The Children’s Room invites our middle grade readers (ages 8-12) to join our monthly book club! On the third Tuesday of every month, we will meet to discuss the assigned title which will be chosen from a selection of popular fiction and nonfiction. Copies of the assigned title will be provided for members to keep! Each month’s title and any related materials will be announced and distributed at the end of the previous session.

This program is designed to allow caregivers an opportunity to participate in social and art-based activities that promote family literacy. Instead, everyone can share their own recommendations of a book they're enjoyed recently as we meet for general book chat and afternoon tea. The Fall River Public Library invites all photography enthusiasts to join our new Photography Group.On the last Wednesday of each month, participants will share their work, provide feedback, and join in open discussion about the wonderful art of photography! A monthly, optional theme will be picked at random to help inspire and prompt our members to make new and exciting work to share each session. Participants are asked to bring in a thumbdrive of their work, with a selection of 5-10 photos, if they intend to share with the group that month.While we gladly accept photographers at all stages of their journeys, the Photography Group does not offer photography lessons. We do encourage our participants to ask questions about photography, and to share tips and tricks they’ve learned with each other.This program is intended for photographers ages 13 and up.
