Collage, Create, Illustrate: Celebrating Black History
In celebration of Black History Month, join us to dive deep into the work of 4 children’s book illustrators and the art of storytelling through collage. Featured artists will include: Oge Mora, Christian Robinson, Ekua Holmes, and Ashley Bryan. Wed, Feb 18: Collage and Connect featuring art of Ashley Bryan + Oge Mora 5 to 6pm Open collage exploration - Art materials provided with lots of inspirational examples on hand. Light refreshments will be served. 6 to 7pm Documentary screening of I Know a Man…Ashley Bryan - Ashley Bryan was a prolific artist with a fascinating history. Come enjoy this documentary about his life. You’re welcome to make art as you watch! Wed, Feb 25: Collage and Connect featuring art of Ekua Holmes + Christian Robinson 5 to 7pm Open collage exploration - Art materials provided. Light refreshments will be served. Adults and teens can enjoy 2 casual evenings of collage and connection featuring materials and inspiration from these featured illustrators. Each of these artists use bold colors, cut paper and layers of texture in different ways to tell stories. Come browse their work, learn their histories and try your hand at telling a story of your own through collage. Feel free to bring old photographs, magazines, etc. of your own that might help tell your story. There will be plenty of materials available as well.
Game Night
Join friends and neighbors for a fun evening of board and card games! If you have a favorite, please bring it along to share/teach to fellow gamers! Games the Athenaeum owns include Monopoly, Code Names, The All American History Trivia Game, Sorry, Chess, Quiddler (word game), SET, and many more! Refreshments will be served! Maker Mondays
Drop-in Maker Mondays Get your hands dirty and your creative juices flowing at this informal gathering. Bring your current project—whether it's knitting, sketching, or something else entirely—and spend the evening working alongside other local makers. It's a great opportunity to connect with fellow artists, share ideas, and find inspiration in a relaxed and supportive environment. We will gather twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Mondays.
Maker Monday: Shadow Boxes + Puppets with Meredyth Babcock
The Becket Athenaeum and local puppeteer and naturalist Meredyth Babcock will join this session of Maker Mondays at the Becket Arts Center (7 Brooker Hill Rd, Becket) to offer a Shadow Box + Puppet making activity for adults and teens. Participants will help make boxes for future library programs and learn the process so they can replicate it at home if they wish to make their own. There will also be the chance to make shadow puppets and explore the fun of shadow puppetry. All materials will be provided. As always, makers are welcome to bring along their own project to work on.

Cookbook Club - “The Complete Vegetarian Cookbook”
Email info@bwlibrary.org to register and request a copy of the cookbook Pick a recipe that you can follow without making modifications as the purpose of this club is to get a sense of the specific cookbook. Think of yourself as a recipe tester! Let us know which recipe you plan to prepare Prepare the recipe to share Meet at the library to discuss experience with recipes (trouble finding ingredients, ease of directions, any modification you would make if preparing the recipe again, etc) & anything else in the cookbook that sparks conversation You’re welcome to bring a guest or member of your household without preparing an additional recipe Enjoy each other's creations!
